Too Fat to Exercise??

FRAK

Over the winter I was lazy and scared.
Working out wasn't a priority.
I could have made it a priority but I chose other things.
I let my worry over Lennon influence me enough to let my lazy have its head.

I have started walking again but it hurts.
I have gotten so overweight that simply trying to walk a mile is painful.
I did 1 loop at Cleary Lake 3 weeks ago.
It took 1 hr 45 min to go 5km.
I have done that same loop in 1 hr 8 min.
And the worst part was how much my hips hurt, how out of breath I was, and just how funny I walked due to my weight.

I did a walk this morning, without my ruck.
1.93km in 33 1/2 minutes.
I had to pause a couple times and do a little stretching.
Between my hips and back, it was uncomfortable.
I wasn't out of breath but definitely was breathing heavy.

And I have just over 3 weeks until my first Ultra.
FANS is the first weekend of June and then the Eagle UP Ultra is the 2nd weekend.
Over the winter I think I had been unconsciously thinking that I would have the surgery and be recovered in time for the Ultras.
I think that was making me think it would be easy and I wouldn't have to work hard at it.

Speaking of weight loss surgery, I have what I hope if my last dietitian appointment today.
Assuming Amy is satisfied with my progress she will approve my surgery and let Jacki know.
Jacki will get everything together and send it in to insurance.
Once insurance pre-approves the surgery, Jacki will contact me to schedule the surgery.
At this point, it looks like it might be July 18, going by her experienced SWAG.
Looking at my calendar, I think I will move it to July 25 if I can.
I have my Buddy Check 22k scheduled for Sunday July 22 and my birthday on Monday July 23.
I would really prefer to not be just out of surgery for my birthday.

Then it will be recovery.
Several weeks of mostly liquid food, then several weeks of pureed food.
I see lots of riced cauliflower, mashed tators, and cream soups in my future.
Someone I know said she was told to go to pureed/soft foods at a faster rate but she was at a different hospital.

I was asked my goals for the surgery.
Weight loss and what ever.
For weight loss, I would be ecstatic if I could get down to 250.
While most would think that is still big, I was 225 in the Marines and in awesome shape.
That would also be a 125lb loss from where I am now or a 33% loss of where I am now.
I need to find the local weight loss surgery group and see about going to the meetings.

One of the things I needed to do for this month for my weight loss stuff was to do better for meals.
I wasn't that good at first but I have started doing it more.
Currently I have some crab salad, buffalo chicken salad, and tuna salad in the fridge.
The buffalo chicken is canned buffalo flavored chicken meat with some mayonnaise.
The tuna salad is a mix of regular chunk tuna and albacore I got on sale with mayonnaise and spices.
The crab salad is imitation crab, tri-color coleslaw mix, mayonnaise, and spices.
I found a sandwich wrap, Flatout - ProteinUp CarbDown Flatbread, that works really well for making sandwiches.
I have also cut up onions and tomatoes so I can add them to a sandwich which makes it more like a Subway.

Oh, McCormick Grill Mates Bacon Chipotle is awesome for flavor.
Between that and my Chipotle sauce from Cholula, I am able to add a ton of flavor without a ton of spice or salt.

More after my appointments this week.
Dietitian today, ultra sound of my gall bladder (for surgery) tomorrow, and dentist on Friday.
